My goal is always to facilitate genuine connection between people. Participants get to know each other better and audiences will be more engaged to the speakers on stage. An event host that wants to be the center of attention will alienate the audience—I authentically show up with care for both audience and other speakers.
Storytelling is the most natural way we process information and our narratives shape our view on the world. It’s through stories that we understand ourselves and others, and in sharing our stories we are able to genuinely connect with others and the world around us.
We carry a lot of fear that gets in the way of us telling our stories or communicating our ideas on a stage. In my storytelling events and when I am on stage as an event host I always focus on creating a space that takes away pressure so that participants and speakers can show up authentically. This makes events more fun and engaging—it makes them memorable.
